Make your very own DIY Dinkum Dog Bed

• 01Cut
  Cut a 35cm diameter circle out of your cardboard and fabric
• 02Glue
  Glue your fabric circle to the top of your cardboard
• 03Cut and Place
  Cut a 50cm diameter circle out of your fabric then place your 35cm circle on top of the 50cm with the cardboard side facing down. You can use any fabric of your choosing! Be it an old bedsheet, nightie, or a cute old vintage print (or grandma’s pyjamas!)
• 04Stuff with wood wool
  Create a ring around your 35cm circle with the wood wool. Ensure the wood wool is densely packed.
• 05Tuck your bed
  Pull the excess fabric from your 50cm circle over the top of wood wool, tuck it in and glue in place. Continue around the circle until you create a doughnut shape
• 06Voila!
  Allow the glue to dry and then you are ready to play

Make your very own DIY Reindeer Antlers

• 01Trace
  With a pencil, mark out two of your Reindeer antlers on a piece of felt of your choice.
• 02Cut
  Using scissors, carefully cut out two strips of brown felt (the band of your ears)
• 03Glue
  Glue the edges of your Reindeer antlers connecting them so there is an opening in the top. 
• 04Stuff ears with cotton
  Using cotton buds, stuff the inside of each ear to give them their shape and glue the seams together. 
• 05Glue ears to the band
  Place down the first piece of the brown band felt and glue the antlers on, then place more glue on the base of the antlers. 
• 06Glue top
  Place down your other piece of the brown band felt and connect them, allow to dry. 
• 07Measure width of head
  Before connecting, make sure to measure the band to the width of your little one's head so it fits just right! 

• 08Attach Velcro
  Attach your velcro to each endpoint of the band and voila! You have your very own set of Reindeer antlers!

The Explorer

This little duo is set to adventure into the wild witchy Halloween streets. Don't be fooled they may not look so spooky, but you can guarantee they'll track down all the tasty treats! All you'll need is an explorer hat and a little camera or binoculars to match your Dinkum.

The Teddy

Definitely the cutest grizzly bear you'll ever meet, these two little bears will be out in search of some delicious honey candy, they can be pretty cunning if they have to! Keep your eyes peeled for some Teddy tricks. You'll want a fluffy hat or a cute set of ears to match your Teddy Dinkum.

The Bunny

Beware of those black cats while you are hopping around on Halloween eve! This matching Cozy Dozy Dinkum bunny outfit can be easily pulled off with some ears and a carrot to counteract the sugar rush!

Make your very own DIY fizzy fantasy witch potion and magical fire pit

 DIY magical fire pit

• 01Build your base
  Place the shallow bowl in the centre of the plate/tray to create your fire pit base
• 02Scatter stones
  Scatter stones around the base of the pit
• 03Place twigs
  Place twigs around the pit, on top of the stones
• 04Build your colourful fire
  Pull fibres from your roving and place them across the pit, overlapping layers and blending the colours together. Ensure you leave layers hanging over the pit.
• 05Twist and twine
  Once your roving is blended together, twist the end of the layers that hang over the pit, this will help to create your flames.
• 06Final Touches
  Place your roving inside the pit and put the smaller bowl on top. You are now ready to add your potion!

DIY fantasy witch potion 

• 01Add your fantastical ingredients
  Add the bicarbonate of soda, citric acid and cornstarch to the bowl and mix well.
• 02Sepereate
  Separate your mixer into three containers.
• 03Mix
  Add pigment and glitter of choice to each container and mix well to three unique blends.
• 04Add your magical herbs
  Now you can add your potion powders to your fire pit bowl and sprinkle in some dried flowers
• 05Add to your fire
  Add a dash of water to the bowl in your fire and watch the potion begin to fizz
• 06Store
  Keep the leftover potion powders stored in a container with a lid and out of reach of small children.

• 07Fantastical Holdie Fairytale Folk Party 
  Make sure to invite all your Holdie fairytale folk around to enjoy the warmth of the fire and Wanda's fizzy potion! 

 Create your own DIY Playscape

• 01Create backdrop
  Take one of your large pieces of cardboard. Begin with the bottom of the play scene. Using your dark blue paint, begin to cover the card edge to edge. 
  Once that's done and still wet, begin applying your light blue in wobbly stripes across the dark. You don't want to mix them really, try to keep some contrast between the dark and light blues. Get creative until it looks like the ocean! Set aside to dry.
• 02Prepare the setting
  Begin the background for the play scene. Cover the card in pastel yellow from edge to edge. Set aside to dry.
• 03Draw you sunbeams
  Once the yellow pastel has dried, grab a plate and set it on the bottom of the card to get your sun shape. Using a ruler, you now begin to draw the sunbeams, from the sun to the edge of the card in equal sizes.
• 04Paint & decorate! 
  Begin to apply your burnt orange colour to the sun within your drawn sun. If you used acrylic paint for the pastel yellow background, you can gently apply masking tape to get the straight lines on the sunbeams. Otherwise if you've used poster paint, just take your time and pay attention to the edges. Set aside to dry.
• 05Draw your waves
  Draw a wave and cut it out. Using the same colours and technique as the ocean base, paint the wave. To get that foamy top, just dab white to the crest of the wave. Create 3 of these.
• 06Draw your rocks
  Draw a large rock and cut it out. Paint it, don't worry about it being one uniform colour, little bits of contrast will get it a more "rocky" texture. Once dry, add some cracks and some seaweed. Set aside to dry.
• 07Finishing touches
  Using left over card, cut out some right angled triangles (roughly 5cm x 5cms) and hot glue these to the back of your waves and rock to help support them. Then you want to cut out 2 large right angled triangles (roughy 40cm x 5cm). And hot glue them as support to the back of your background.

• 08Voila !
  Piece it all together. Your hot glue gun, stick the background to the base, making sure the supports are also on the base. Arrange your waves and rock until happy, then hot glue the edges in place. Ta da! - you have a fabulous holdie ocean play scene.

These playscape possibilities are endless!

Here is some more beautiful inspiration, this can be built using similar steps above! Simply adapt the colours and shapes and add in a sprinkle of imagination.

• 01Draw & Trace
  Cut out the Bed Template with scissors and join the bedside piece as shown with tape. Layout the templates on the cardboard and trace them around with a pencil. The slots should be the same thickness as your cardboard, adjust them as required.
• 02Cut
  Cut around the pieces using scissors and a steel ruler as a guide along the straight edges. Be sure to protect your work surface with a cutting mat or scrap piece of cardboard.
• 03Decorate
  Decorate the bed head and foot to suit your Daydream Dinkum’s personality! We used paint pens but feel free to use whatever materials you have on hand.
• 04Position
  Attach the paper straws to the inside faces of the bedside pieces with masking tape. They should be located close to the bottom.
• 05Build
  Slot the Bed together by attaching the Bedhead to the sides, and then to the Bed Foot.
• 06Fit the mattress
  Measure the inside of the bed frame and cut a rectangular piece of cardboard to fit neatly inside for the ‘mattresses. Place the mattress inside so that it sits on the straws. If you want to make your bed a bit more robust, run a bead of white glue along each of the joins and also along the straws before putting the mattress in place then allow the glue to dry completely before play.
• 07Sweet Dreams!
  Place your Dozy Dinkum in bed for the dreamiest sleep! For extra special dream, pair with the DIY Daydream Mobile (see other blog)

• 01Draw & Trace
  Trace some circles onto the Cardboard using a pencil and a small round object, you’ll need 4 larger circles and 2 or 3 smaller circles (we used a milk bottle lid and a pen lid to trace around). We also drew 2 arched rainbow shapes slightly larger than the circles, be sure to draw your rainbows so that the internal corrugations in the cardboard run vertically.
• 02Cut
  Carefully cut around the shapes with a pair of sharp scissors.
• 03Decorate
  Decorate both sides of the shapes to suit your Daydream Dozy Dinkum’s personality with paint pens. We drew some icons on the larger circles and patterns on the smaller circles and rainbows but feel free to get creative with your design.
• 04Position
  If you have drawings that you want to face a certain way, make sure to position your circles with the internal corrugations running vertically before you get started. 
• 05Thread
  Next, cut the string into 3 pieces around 25cm long. Tie a knot in the bottom of the string and thread the top through the internal corrugations in your cardboard shapes (Tip: tightly wrap a piece of tape around the tip of the string to stiffen it up so that it threads through more easily). Tie a knot at the bottom of each shape to keep them in place and mix up your cardboard shapes with wooden beads to add some texture. For our mobiles we made 2 strands with 3 shapes or beads and 1 strand with 4.
• 06Attach Your Stick
  Tie the 3 strands to the craft dowel or stick, with the longer one in the middle and the shorter ones on the sides. If you want to make sure your string doesn’t come loose, put a dab of white glue on the ends of the knots and allow to dry.
• 07Hang your mobile
  To hang your mobile, cut another piece of string around 45cm long. Fold it in half and tie a knot to create a loop in the middle, then tie each end to the craft dowel to secure it in place. 
• 07Voila!
  Trim off any extra pieces of string and your mobile is ready to lull your Daydream Dozy to sleep.

Care for your Dinkum Doll

Those Dinkum Dolls sure do know how to have a good time out and about with their Kiddo counterparts! This does mean that sometimes they end up a little grubby (it's all part of the fun!) So here are our top tips for keeping your Dinkum Doll spick and span!

To Machine Wash 

• 01Place in pillowcase
  If you would like to give your Dinkum a bath using a washing machine, first place it into a pillowcase or wash bag.
• 02Seal
  Make sure that the bag is sealed so that your Dinkum Doll won't escape mid-wash.
• 03Wash
  Wash your Dinkum Doll on a gentle, cold cycle, then leave it in the sun to dry.
• 04Comb
  Once your Dinkum Doll is dry, use a soft-bristled brush to comb their hair.
• 05Style
  Style those locks however you choose! 
• 06Be careful!
  Each Dinkum Doll comes with special embroidered details, like their sweet little Rainbow heart. Be mindful that the stitching and fabrics may wear over time. We do not recommend repeated machine washing.

 To Spot Clean

• 01Brush 
  Start by brushing your Dinkum Doll's hair using a soft-bristled brush. This is important to do prior to washing in order to remove any fluff or debris that may be stuck in it.
• 02Remove Clothing
  Remove your Dinkum Doll's clothing. These can be washed together with your usual laundry.
• 03Wet a cloth
  Wet a cloth under warm water...
• 04Apply
  ...then apply your favourite organic washing detergent. 
• 05Lather
  Using circular motions, lather the detergent into the parts of the Dinkum Doll you would like to spot clean...
• 06Repeat
  ...then repeat using only water until the doll is clean. Lay your Dinkum Doll in the sun to dry. 

Remove knots and un-matt the hair of your well-loved Dinkum Doll 

Everyone loves those clean hair feels, and when you're a Dinkum Doll, bed hair can be rife!!

If the hair on your much-loved Dinkum Doll needs some love, follow the simple steps below for an extra special hair makeover.

 You will need 

Let's get started...

• 01
  Mix up watered-down fabric softener or conditioner
• 02
  Run through hair for about 30 seconds {head massage optional}
• 03
  Gently brush the knots out with a Tangle Teaser or comb while it's still wet 
• 04
  Rinse with water {it's ok to leave some in!} 
• 05
  Pop your Dinkum out in the sun to dry!  

Hooray! Ready to style their hair however you choose.

Make your very own DIY Rainbow Dinkum Doll Flags

• 01Get started
  With a pencil, mark out your flag lines with a ruler on an A4 piece of felt of your choice, you will need two big triangle for front and back! (you can also use different coloured pieces of paper)
• 02Draw & trace
  On the same piece of felt, draw out the little patterns you want on your flag e.g. love hearts, clouds, rainbows. You can use different colour felt (or paper) for your shapes to make it as colourful as you like!
• 03Cut
  With scissors, carefully cut out your shapes.
• 04Place your shapes
  Lay your large triangle flag down and place the shapes where you will want to glue them.
• 05Glue your shapes
  Use a little bit of glue on the back of your shapes then press and hold down on your flag for a couple of seconds so as they’re secure! (If using paper, you can draw them on with coloured markers!)
• 06Attach your stick
  With your other piece of triangle felt or paper laid flat, squeeze a thin line of glue down the straight edge of it.
• 07Build your flag
  Lay your flag stick down on the glue line and press gently so it sticks, wait for this to dry. Then add a little more glue on around the flag borders and lay the other triangle evenly across it, shapes facing upwards!

• 08Voila !

Let’s craft the day away together

Spark imagination and play with our Holdie™ World Friends!!

• 01GET STARTED
  Start by taking off the top flap of your Holdie Dinosaurs or Magical Creatures box with a sharp pair of scissors. (A job for a grown-up or extra big kid for sure!)
• 02Trace & Cut
  Create the background scene for your diorama from coloured paper or card. Use a pencil to trace some mountains or a volcano onto the coloured paper and cut around with scissors. Then create the foreground with some rolling hills in different colours. For our dinosaurs we also cut out a large moon from white paper by tracing around a cereal bowl. Make sure your pieces fit inside the box, trimming down any shapes as needed.
• 03Get Creative! 
  Next, design some extra details for your diorama, think clouds, shrubs, monstera leaves, vines, stars and rainbows. If you’re making a volcano don’t forget the lava! Cut out all of your pieces with scissors.
• 04Decorate!
  To add some hand drawn charm, use markers or paint pens to add details and patterns to some of your scenery pieces. We added some spots and outlines. 
• 05Structure
  To give your scenery structure, use scrap cardboard to create backing pieces. Roughly cut out shapes to sit behind the paper pieces, this doesn’t need to be perfect as it will be hidden in the final layout. Use the glue stick or some double-sided tape to attach the paper to the cardboard.
• 06Added dimension!
  If you want to give your scene extra dimension, cut out some additional small rectangles from the cardboard as packers. Glue them to the back of the pieces that you’d like to sit further forward, the more pieces you use, the more space you will have between your layers.
• 07Assemble
  To assemble your scene, start by gluing down the background first then move onto the foreground and lastly detailed pieces. 

• 08Voila !
  When the glue has dried, just add Holdie Dinosaurs or Magical Creatures and you are ready to play!

Make your very own DIY Holdie™ Mermaid wand.

• 01GET STARTED
  Remove the sleeve from your Holdie™ Mermaid box and carefully cut out the mermaid illustration from the front with scissors.
• 02Cut & Trace
  Use a round object to trace a semi-circle around 4" in diameter onto the colored paper with the pencil. Cut it out using scissors.   
• 03Fold 
  Fold the semi-circle in half horizontally, then accordion fold one half of the semi-circle. Turn the project over and accordion fold the other half.  
• 04Pinch your Shell
  When the semicircle is completely folded, pinch the bottom of one side and fold it out. Repeat for the other side and then fan out the top slightly to create the shell shape.
• 05Repeat Repeat Repeat! 
  Repeat steps 2-3 to create a total of 3 shells in different colors. We made one of our shells slightly smaller than the others.
• 06Assemble with love
  Arrange the 2 large shells behind the mermaid illustration and the smaller shell on top. When you are happy with the design, glue it in place. Tip: If you’re using white glue, some double-sided tape will help hold the pieces in place while the glue sets. To speed up the drying time, have an adult use super glue or hot glue instead. 
• 07Stick & Ribbon
  Grab your stick and glue the ribbon to the top. We used 2 different colors and cut the stick down to fit inside our Shell Bag!

• 08Voila !
  When the glue on the mermaid and the ribbons has set, attach the mermaid to the top of the stick with your choice of glue, ready to create some Mermaid Magic!

Wonder Wagons have got summer covered, from outdoor picnics to carting sleeping under the star's essentials! We've seen Wonder Wagons laden with buckets, spades and sunhats ready for a day by the seaside and Wagons pulling their weight (see what we did there) carting fruit and veg farmers market hauls.

Is there anything more precious than a baby's first Easter?! Create a beautiful Easter gift filled with forever treasures nestled in our Egg Basket! Also, with its big round handle, this Basket's the goods for any Easter egg hunter. Beyond Easter, the Egg Basket makes a lovely addition to the bathroom to hold luscious soaps and bath salts or as a stylish tote to take out and about with you!

 It’s time to get cracking on this cozy Easter craft! 

• 01Tear and Mix
  Tear up the newspaper and brown paper into strips about 2-3 cm wide and 10cm long, then make up a mixture of white glue and water at a ratio of 2 parts glue to 1 part water. Mix the 2 together in an old bowl with a paint brush until well combined. 
• 02Inflate & cover! 
  Blow up the balloon so that it is large enough to fit your Cozy Dinkum inside – we made ours about 26cm high. Working in sections, use the paintbrush to paint glue mixture on the balloon, then add strips of newspaper, coating with more glue over the top and smoothing out the wrinkles. Overlap the newspaper and make sure you cover the whole balloon.  
• 03Layer & dry
  Allow the first layer to dry, then add another 3 layers to the balloon, alternating brown paper and newspaper to make it easier to see which sections need to be covered. We added all of our final layers at the same time rather than drying in between. Allow the Papier mâché to dry for 24 hours, or until it feels hard, with no give when you push on it.
• 04Paint & decorate! 
  Use scissors to cut off the knot in the balloon to deflate it, and then decorate your egg! We used paint and dot stickers to create a pattern on ours. 
• 05Cut & coat! 
  Use a box cutter to cut the balloon in half horizontally. If you decide to leave the inside of the egg unpainted like we did, double check that the glue has sealed the newspaper print by rubbing your finger over the inside, if needed add another coat of the glue mixture to the inside and allow to dry to prevent the ink from transferring to your Cozy Dinkum. 
• 06Assemble with love
  Pop your Cozy Dinkum into the base of the egg, we put down some shredded paper first to make it comfy.
• 07Seal & surprise!! 
  Put the top of the egg back on to the base and seal it up with tape, ready to surprise someone special!

• 08Voila !
  Pair with your Easter Basket for an eggcellent Easter Holiday!

We love nothing more than busting out the rolling pin, dusting a little flour about and baking up some scrumptious goodies over Easter (or anytime, to be honest!). This Easter, we teamed up with our good friends @raisingrodmans and Bunny Moppet to bake up a jam-filled, pie pop storm. Join in the fun, it's super easy, and we promise we won't tell if you lick the bowl (ssssh!)

  01To begin
  Preheat oven to 400°F. Unroll crust / pastry onto a lightly floured surface and roll smooth.
• 02Cut shapes
  Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes of your choice. With remaining crust, knead together and then roll out into another large, thin piece (around 1/4in thick) to cut remaining shapes. You want to have two of each shape so you end up with a top and bottom for the pie pops.
• 03Coat with egg
  Beat the egg for your egg wash in a small bowl. Lay out half of your shapes on a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush the edges with your egg wash.
• 04Filling
  Next using a small amount ( approx 1tsp) of jam/preserves spread in the middle of the bottom pie crust shape.
• 05Popsicles
  Before placing the top crust shape on, place a popsicle stick about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. Place the top crust on top and gently pinch the edges to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges if needed.
• 06Bake!
  Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
• 07Icing
  Once cooled, whisk together icing ingredients and spread over each pie pop.
• 08Decorate
  Now for the best part! Choose a sweet treat to eat or surprise a friend with a Cozy Dinkum &  Berry Basket full of pie pops and enjoy them together!

RATTAN CARE TIPS & TRICKS!

Tip 1: Clean

To keep your rattan free of dirt, dust and spills, it's a good idea to give it a clean occasionally. The best way to do this is to dust or wipe your rattan down with a soft microfibre cloth that is slightly damp. Once you have cleaned your rattan, leave it in soft sunlight for a few hours to remove any moisture! Use a soft brush to get into all those rattan nooks and crannies for a deeper clean! It is always best to avoid using any abrasive cleaning products as these can cause long term damage to rattan.

Tip 2: Store 

Although our rattan is designed to be used outdoors and loves a big alfresco adventure, it is best not to leave or store it in the sun for lengthy periods as this can lead to discolouration and brittleness. While we are talking about storage, our advice is that rattan is best stored indoors out of any wet weather & the elements! When not in use, keeping your rattan indoors will add years to its life!

Tip 3: Care 

If your rattan "accidentally" gets wet (curious little kids, we're looking at you!), leave it to dry in soft sunlight for a few hours to remove any moisture and voila, it will be good as new again! Rattan is a natural fibre, which is why we love it so. However, natural fibres can attract mould when placed in a highly humid or moist environment.

The best way to treat natural rattan with areas of mould is with a spray bottle containing an 80/20 mix of water and white vinegar. Lightly spray the area of concern (you can use a toothbrush to clean any nooks and crannies gently), leave for ten minutes, and then gently wipe clean with a soft, damp microfibre cloth. Place in soft sunlight to dry.

Natural Baby Shower

“It can be tough to balance being a mum and a female business owner, particularly when neither role shouldn’t negate the other! What I find ironic in my case (and for many women in the nursery retail industry) was that when the idea of Natural Baby Shower was born, it was completely inspired on my experience as a woman, and as a mum.
